Thunder River was born into her mother’s long shadow, and strives to understand her purpose, embrace her prophetic gift, and (hopefully someday) surpass her mother’s expectations. Her position as a mystic in training is to stand between two worlds: that of derision and misunderstanding and that of need and trust. The very people who look down on her also turn to her for advice, and she is judged based on her accuracy and clarity. When it comes to metaphysical truths, no matter how sharply she hones her clair senses, she’ll never see anything with complete accuracy—yet that’s often what the villagers want. All Thunder River can do is keep training, keep honing her senses, and hope that she’s conveying her visions in a way her audience can understand. Anything they choose to do—or not do—after that cannot be her responsibility.
She looks to companionship partly because her mother went into companionship a couple of years ago, and she knows there’s plenty she can learn, including practicing her dreamwalking, bilocation, and astral travel—all skills that can help in interpreting her visions. Partly, she’s keen to experience a view into another world for herself, as the new perspectives, contrast, and similarities between Earthside and her home in Bodove will deepen her ability to assess new situations, interpret alien symbolism, and push through her own prejudices. On the most basic of levels, she’s keen to build personal connections outside her mother’s overbearing influence.
In return, she offers to share any dreams or visions she has that might pertain to you, is glad to do readings of cards or runes with you, can help cleanse crystals and reset pendulums, and can share her clair-honing exercises with you. While she’s still in training, she can only complete her apprenticeship with time and practice, so if you’re willing to follow this river of fate with her, she has no doubt you can both grow and learn by working together.
