"The earthen pull of my Ilixirtan hub has differing effects on travellers. Some find its weight oppressive, others feel all churned up, and still others experience a deep fatigue seeping through their bones. No matter what unexpected ways you react to the unknown, I’ll never judge. I’ve seen it all, and I’ll make sure you’re kept safe."
Teleportation is reserved for the Gods . . . or the Astral. On the Earth Realm, such travel needs to be carefully controlled, or else disaster could happen (we’re talking melded travellers, instant death, being sublimated, or getting embedded in solid rock—all nasty accidents). This Ilixirtan Guardian is, in the simplest terms, a traffic controller for one of the main portal hubs in Ul-Zaorith.
She runs people through the proper prep for travel, reviews their visas for using their portal, and ensures travellers get safely through. Guardian takes their job seriously, but she’s no rigid stick in the mud. It can be scary being teleported for the first time, so he tries to put folks at ease with a kind word or an easy joke, sometimes even holding others’ hands and travelling through with them. She takes pride in getting people through safely—especially because the vast majority of those cleared to travel the Ilixirtan way are people of high importance or on time-sensitive business. In Guardian’s small way, she’s helping to sustain the peace and save lives.
As a companion, the Ilixirtan Guardian offers their aid to assist during astral travel, as both a defender and a guide. She has a keen nose for magical trouble, and is well versed in wards, protection magics, and evasive tactics. In return, Guardian wants to feel accepted and welcomed into a family as an equal, where they can set down roots and create a found family. They’d love nothing more than debates (even if they get heated), exploration, and continued study in a wide range of topics. Most of all, Guardian wants adventure to feed body, soul, and mind.
