Please note that all Racial Tome entries are based on Ember's personal UPG and may not reflect yours. Gaian Werewolves and all their variants, in this incarnation, are exclusive to Three Souls.

Much like with the Gaian Vampires (our Sanguine and Psychic Vampires), Gaia has many different kinds of Werewolves. While there is the classic Full Moon variants that make Gaia their home, there are plenty of more unique werewolf types whose shifts are dependent on certain astrological, seasonal, environmental, or cosmic events. Currently we offer Arctic, Astrologian, Autumnal, Blood Moon, Blue Moon, Eclipse, Full Moon, Solstice, Meteor, and Vernal Werewolves. Silver Werewolves are also a form of Gaian Werewolf, but their culture is uniquely different from the typical Gaian Werewolf and so have been given their own page.

These werewolves do not have the same silver allergies as the werewolves from our own lore do, and not all the werewolves of Gaia shift with the coming of the full moon. Gaia Werewolves are anthropomorphic in nature, and do not shift into proper quadruped beasts, although they can run on all fours for brief stints. Info on the individual types of weres below will go over, primarily, when these individuals shift. As many lead regular human lives, only those werewolf types with distinctly different ways of life will be extrapolated on. Many of these sections use the same wording but are modified slightly for their specific were type. If you are curious what life as a Gaian is like, we recommend reading our Gaian Shifter write-up which covers a lot about their world.

ARCTIC WEREWOLVES

Arctic Werewolves are not influenced by specific moon phases but instead by the increasing presence of night. They spend most of their winters shifted for longer and longer durations until they remain fully shifted, with peak transformation being during the Winter Solstice (the shortest day of the year). As the Spring Equinox nears, these beings begin to shift back to their human forms as their inner wolf goes dormant with the arrival of spring. These shifts begin again typically around the Fall Equinox.

When Arctic Werewolves are shifted, you can expect similar werewolf qualities such as heightened senses and strength, but Arctic Werewolves do not experience any form of amnesia or berserker states like some traditional werewolf stories and lore might imply. They remain fully in control of everything they do, but do gain an increased appetite and heavy meat cravings when in their werewolf form. These weres tends to be between 7’2” and 7’8” when shifted.

Their coat colours tend to be a snowy white or extremely pale blue or grey in order to blend in with the snow.

Not everyone celebrates the changing of seasons at the same time, so while Equinoxes or Solstices may typically signify the start of a new season, many don’t experience seasons like we do, so use each seasonal werewolf’s peak shift time as a rough guidance point and not a hard fact.

ASTROLOGIAN WEREWOLVES

Astrological Werewolves look like regular Full Moon Werewolves, but only shift during their Sun Sign’s season. For example, someone born under the sign of Gemini would shift during Gemini’s rule, and return to the human form once Cancer season comes along. They have “natural” wolf colourations.

AUTUMNAL WEREWOLVES

Autumnal Werewolves are influenced by the shift in power between the sun and the moon, in specific, the lessening of daylight. They spend most of their falls shifted for longer and longer durations until they remain fully shifted, with peak transformation being during our Fall Equinox. As the Winter Solstice nears, these beings begin to shift back to their human forms as their inner wolf goes dormant with the arrival of spring. These shifts begin again typically around the Summer Solstice.

When Autumnal Werewolves are shifted, you can expect similar werewolf qualities such as heightened senses and strength, but Autumnal Werewolves do not experience any form of amnesia or berserker states like some traditional werewolf stories and lore might imply. They remain fully in control of everything they do, but do gain an increased appetite and heavy meat cravings when in their werewolf form. These weres tends to be between 7’2” and 7’8” when shifted.

Their coat colours tend to be vibrant orange and orange-yellows in order to blend in with autumn foliage.

Not everyone celebrates the changing of seasons at the same time, so while Equinoxes or Solstices may typically signify the start of a new season, many don’t experience seasons like we do, so use each seasonal werewolf’s peak shift time as a rough guidance point and not a hard fact.

BlOOD MOON WEREWOLVES

Blood Moon Werewolves only shift during a Blood Moon, which occurs roughly twice a year. As they do not shift very often, they do not typically live in packs. Blood Moon Weres are, however, genetic, and so have the support of their family to fall back on. The older the Blood Moon Were, the better control they have over their shifted state. Blood Moon Weres often will disappear during a Blood Moon to give in to their more feral instincts and to stay away from those they care for to keep them safe.

Their coat colours tend to be a dark blood red colour that matches the red of a blood moon.

BLUE MOON WEREWOLVES

Blue Moon Werewolves only shift during a Blue Moon, which means they often only shift once every two to three years. As they do not shift very often, they do not frequently live in packs. Blue Moon Weres are, however, genetic, and so have the support of their family to fall back on. As they are one of the least experienced of all the Weres I offer with their shifts, Blue Moon Weres will always vanish during a Blue Moon in order to keep their loved ones safe from harm. They are not in control of themselves during this time and are slaves to their feral natures.

Their coat colour tends too lean towards the typical blue colouration found in animals such as Russian Blues.

ECLIPSE MOON WEREWOLVES

Eclipse Werewolves are interesting, as there are two kinds: those that shift into their wolf forms during an eclipse, and those that shift into their human form during an eclipse. It is said that those that retain the wolf forms for the majority of the year are the result of Weres giving birth during one of their shifts. This doesn't seem to occur with any of the other Weres present and living on Gaia. Those that are "Wildborn" tend to develop packs with other Wildborns, preferring the dark and distant forests away from humans, while those who spend most of their time throughout the year as humans often live in multi-generational homes.

As there are roughly four to seven solar or lunar eclipses per year, this means the number of times these Weres shift will vary from year to year.

Their coat colours tend to be a gradient of black, grey and white to represent the colour of the moon and black skies during an eclipse.

FULL MOON WEREWOLVES

Full Moon Werewolves transform during the full moon and typically have “natural” wolf colourations. Otherwise, they are your classic werewolf.

METEOR WEREWOLVES

Meteor Werewolves can shift more times a year than standard Full Moon Were of Gaia, as meteor showers happen on average thirty times a year, over double the amount of full moon cycles in a year. These Weres live in and rely on pack systems, as they find such frequent and at times unpredictable shifts makes it difficult for them to be around humans. So, they choose to keep to themselves, but many remain curious about humans, even abandoning their ways in favour of city dwelling once they master their shifts.

In their werewolf form, Meteor Werewolves typically stand between 7-8ft tall, and their fur is a deep dark midnight blue that is a bit lighter through the middle of their bodies. They stand on two legs, with massive bone white claws with blue paw pads, noses, and even the insides of their mouths and ears are the same shade of blue. Their teeth are long and pointed, but their canines are even more fearsome, with a set of “fangs” on the bottom and top jaw that are rather prominent. Their eyes glow a ghostly cosmic blue, regardless of what eye colour they have in their human form. While the tips of the tails, fur at the bottom of their feet, and around their “hands” are so dark they can almost be black, their entire coat is spattered with shining stars that make them look like they are made from the starry night sky above.

Their coats tend to be a very deep, midnight blue with bright blue paw pads.

SOLSTICE WEREWOLVES

Solstice Werewolves are influenced by the sun’s position and power. They spend most of their summers shifted for longer and longer durations until they remain fully shifted, with peak transformation being during the Summer Solstice. As the Fall Equinox nears, these beings begin to shift back to their human forms as their inner wolf goes dormant with the arrival of spring. These shifts begin again typically around the Spring Equinox.

When Solstice Werewolves are shifted, you can expect similar werewolf qualities such as heightened senses and strength, but Solstice Werewolves do not experience any form of amnesia or berserker states like some traditional werewolf stories and lore might imply. They remain fully in control of everything they do, but do gain an increased appetite and heavy meat cravings when in their werewolf form. These weres tends to be between 7’2” and 7’8” when shifted.

Their coats are a bright, sunny yellow colour that is not over intrusive, bordering on goldenrod and gold in colouraiton.

Not everyone celebrates the changing of seasons at the same time, so while Equinoxes or Solstices may typically signify the start of a new season, many don’t experience seasons like we do, so use each seasonal werewolf’s peak shift time as a rough guidance point and not a hard fact.

VERNAL WEREWOLVES

Vernal Werewolves are influenced by the shift in power between the sun and the moon, in specific, the strengthening of daylight until it has reached a point of balance. They spend most of their springs shifted for longer and longer durations until they remain fully shifted, with peak transformation being during the Spring Equinox. As the Summer Solstice nears, these beings begin to shift back to their human forms as their inner wolf goes dormant with the arrival of spring. These shifts begin again typically around the Winter Solstice.

When Vernal Werewolves are shifted, you can expect similar werewolf qualities such as heightened senses and strength, but Vernal Werewolves do not experience any form of amnesia or berserker states like some traditional werewolf stories and lore might imply. They remain fully in control of everything they do, but do gain an increased appetite and heavy meat cravings when in their werewolf form. These weres tends to be between 7’2” and 7’8” when shifted.

Their coats tend to be a pale pink or green to blend in with the spring blossoms and growing foliage.

Not everyone celebrates the changing of seasons at the same time, so while Equinoxes or Solstices may typically signify the start of a new season, many don’t experience seasons like we do, so use each seasonal werewolf’s peak shift time as a rough guidance point and not a hard fact.
