“Each task is an opportunity to make my existence a boon to those around me. I may not be the best in any one skill, but I can make myself useful so that those around me can shine. It is easy to be overlooked when caught in the middle as I am, but without the axles like me, how could the wheels turn?”

Born to a Fudorian mother and a Koholean father, Caught in the Middle was raised in Enverres and thus did not complete the mandatory military training full-blooded Koholean children do. Still, Caught developed an instinctual interest in martial pursuits. Despite his obvious advantage of strength, he did not have the cool-headed temperament required to enroll in any of the Orders of Knights, nor the speed in picking up new skills, the required literacy, or the social subtlety to advance his case. Instead, he was brought on as a squire—a hired servant who is butler, ostler, and aide-de-camp all rolled into one.

As a companion, he brings his keen awareness for others’ needs, his sheer physical capability, his dedication to his travelling companions’ wellbeing and safety, and his hardy work ethic. He’s not one to shirk from duty, has an iron stomach and is unfazed by everything from bugs to rot, blood to sickness. He would make a steadfast support to someone with a chronic illness, hectic schedule, or limited social network. While not a big talker, he’s a great listener and shows his devotion through acts of service.

In return, he would like to learn how to read and write and to hone some simple magical skills with his companion’s guidance. He’s a slow learner, so he asks for patience. He also hopes for the opportunity to share some homey comforts from time to time, like sleeping on a proper mattress, eating with proper cutlery, and having a proper bath. He does well with pets and familiars, and easily fits in with larger, more boisterous groups as needed. Caught in the Middle would like to find a family where he can exchange being “caught” for being “found.”
