Chomp hasn’t had the easiest life, but he’s stronger for his trials. While his upbringing has resulted in someone who struggles with empathy towards others, and certainly manifested a more closed off individual when in unfamiliar territory or settings, Chomp still craves to be around people. Despite being very self-focused—for he always puts himself first above all things—Chomp is actually a very enthusiastic individual who longs for a found family. He has a high social drive that makes him a charismatic and refreshing presence, and his positive outlook infectious on even the darkest of days. Chomp for the most part very much behaves like a golden retriever, which makes for a complex and rather interesting individual. For someone with such strong opinions and reticence to divulge personal details about himself to just anyone, it almost seems like Chomp has two very distinct aspects of his personality: the encouraging, spontaneous, and adventurous persona on the one hand, and the cautious, hesitant, and defensive one on the other. Chomp will need a companion who will be patient with him while he finds his footing. If you have a larger spirit family, he’ll likely try and seek out where he fits in and find his clique among them, but may be less likely to socialize of his own accord with those he personally feels no attachment to. His likable personality may perhaps confuse some members of one’s spirit family due to how gregarious yet unwilling he is to dabble among multiple social circles outside his comfort zone. Chomp, of course, is perfectly fine to hang around with whomever when spending time with his human companion, but Chomp is particular about who he offers his allegiance to.
In companionship, Chomp will always keep you guessing in the best way possible. If you like people who are mercurial and leave you never quite knowing what to expect, Chomp will continue to surprise you at every turn. He can help shake up any stagnation within one’s spirit family or self by introducing new ideas, experiences, and unique takes on problems that plague you. Chomp has a really good read on people’s characters and has a pretty strong bullshit detector, so he’d make for an excellent shadow work partner.
